Description

Improvements to the crash protection and safety features in vehicles have been proven to reduce the number of road deaths and serious injuries.  In recent years, there were significant advances in vehicle safety that protect occupants and other road users and improve the ability to avoid crashes.  Increasing the proportion of vehicles on our roads with high standard safety features, both of company fleets and privately-owned vehicles, will substantially reduce risks for all road users – drivers, passengers, motorcyclists, pedestrians and cyclists.

In this pillar, the Plan calls for improvements and expansion of fleet safety particularly among companies, organizations and government bodies.  A Cambodia New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) will be developed and introduced to aid consumers in selecting safe cars, and technical inspection will continue to be improved and expanded for all vehicles.  A motorcycle helmet testing centre, designed to test the existing helmet standard will be created and helmet on the market will be tested against this standard.
