Road safety is a multi-sectoral issue, and therefore requires a multi-dimensional management system that allows the responsible agencies to develop and implement appropriate strategies, policies and plans and to coordinate the various actors involve in road safety at all levels. The National Road Safety Committee, established in 2006, is the lead agency responsible for road safety management in
The Decade National Road Safety Action Plan will focus on ensuring adequate funding to successfully meet the goals and targets of the Plan, as well as developing the required expertise and capacity among the road safety human resources to implement the required actions. A key priority will be to improve the quality of the RCVIS database, and to decentralize to the provincial and municipal levels. More research will be conducted. For the first time, the Plan will be rigorously monitored and evaluated to ensure that the goals are reached. The NRSC will improve and ensure coordination and collaboration among road safety stakeholders and partners.
