RS Research Institutions

Description

Research is critical in providing government and organizations with in-depth analysis and knowledge on road safety-related issues in order to better understand the road safety situation and formulate effective and relevant policies, strategies and actions. In Cambodia, road safety research is in its infancy: there exists no institution responsible for conducting and disseminating road safety research and few studies have been conducted to add to the knowledge base (refer to materials section).

In 2008-2009, various organizations will plan to conduct research on road safety themes. Handicap International Belgium will fund a study on the sociological, historical and cultural background of Road Traffic Accidents in Cambodia. This study will utilize both international and local university-based research teams in an attempt to build research capacity within university institutions. The National Road Safety Committee will disseminate a report on Helmet Standards in ASEAN countries published by the Global Road Safety Partnership. The Coalition for Road Safety has also conducted research that will be disseminated in the future.

All road research will be disseminated on this website upon finalization.
